SEPTEMBER SHINING SEAHAWKS
FRESHMAN: Cadet Hunter Harkins has been nominated by Senior Chief McClain. Cadet Harkins enthusiastically volunteers his services to better Naval Science, whether during school or after hours, and he completed 402 hours of community service over the summer. He wears his uniform with great pride and his current grade in Naval Science is a 99, making him one of the highest achieving cadets to date. His impressive demeanor and motivational skills has also resulted in his selection as platoon leader. He is a remarkable ambassador for both the school and the NJROTC unit. SOPHOMORE: Cadet Ava Miller has been nominated by Mrs. Anderson. Cadet Ava Miller meets the Shining Seahawk criteria in every sense. She consistently earns high grades in Forensics while balancing the demands of school and athletics. Cadet Miller treats everyone around her with respect, whether it’s her peers or adults. Her kindness and integrity shine through in every interaction. She wears her uniform with confidence and great pride. JUNIOR: Cadet Riley Mercante has been nominated by Mr. Paradise. Cadet Mercante is an excellent ambassador for DMA. She is bright and welcoming to everyone she meets. She is loyal to her friends and fiercely supportive of all their endeavors. She strives to make DMA better and to get her fellow cadets active and involved in the community. This is a phenomenal accomplishment, placing him in the top tier of test takers nationally. This score is a testament to Ryan’s hard work, dedication, and rigorous study, showing mastery that goes far beyond rote memorization. Ryan is an outstanding student both in and out of the classroom with a strong commitment to learning.
